A Quick Guide to Help You Write an Effective Directory
Ad.
- Put your main keyword phrase in the title of your ad.
This will help you get found in the search engines by
people looking for what your business provides. An example
could be – "Your Business Name – Your Keyword
Phrase"
- Write your ad to appeal to your visitor's emotions.
Focus on the benefit or problem they are looking for an
answer to. Then write about the features of your business
that can cater to their needs. For example, if you provide
hypnotherapy for insomniacs then the insomnia cure is the
benefit, the hypnotherapy is the feature.
- You have a whole page ad here, go into some detail
about why you are different and why someone should choose
you over a competitor. What's your USP?
- Even though you have a whole page try not to waffle,
make it punchy, engaging, compelling and above focused on
your call to action.
- Encourage your visitors and customers to give you
feedback on here. More and more people make purchasing
decisions based on actual reviews they see online.
- Use short paragraphs with plenty of white space,
bulleted and numbered lists. Only make one point per
paragraph. Use bold for important points.
- Write in a conversational style as if you were talking
one on one with your prospect.
- Remember to include all your contact details with your
clear call-to-action
- Give your visitors a reason to get in touch with you
immediately by offering an incentive of some sort.
- Post a link to an online map such as multimap showing directions on how
to find you
